From Kitchen Supervisor to GED Graduate: Davonte’s Story
At Dash In, we’re committed to helping our team members grow and advance their careers through education, leadership development, and advancement opportunities.
For Davonte Waters, a Kitchen Supervisor at our Riva Road Dash In location, earning his GED was an important step toward reaching his career goals.
Through Dash In's GEDWorks program, Davonte earned his GED, helping him grow personally and professionally.
Helping Team Members Achieve their Goals
We believe Dash In team members should have the tools, support, and opportunities they need to succeed and achieve their goals.
This commitment is what informs our GEDWorks program that offers eligible team members the opportunity to earn their GED at no cost. The GEDWorks program provides access to study materials, practice tests, and support along the way, making it easier for team members to balance work, life, and education.
Through Dash In programs like GEDWorks, we’re proud to invest in our people and support them as they continue to grow their careers with us.
“Without this support from Dash In, I would not have been able to pursue my GED,” said Davonte. “I am proud and excited to have been a part of the GEDWorks program and am grateful to Dash In for enabling me to do so.”
In addition to GED support, Dash In also offers a Tuition Reimbursement program for team members pursuing higher education. Take Michelle Cukor, a Dash In recruiter who recently earned her Graphic Communications degree from the University of Maryland Global Campus through the support of the program. Now, she has the skills she needs to feel confident in the workplace and keep her career moving forward.
Balancing Work, Life, and Educational Responsibilities
Part of Dash In's commitment to GEDWorks and the broader Tuition Reimbursement program is also about work-life balance. The support we provide is not only financial, but also personal.
With the help of his manager, Davonte was able to successfully balance his responsibilities at home, work, and as a student while completing the GEDWorks program.
When he first joined Dash In, Davonte knew that he would need a GED to keep up with his career goals.
“I didn’t feel I needed it before, but once I stepped into a leadership role, I knew I needed a GED to keep moving my career forward,” Davonte said.
By 2031, 72% of jobs will require applicants to have a high school diploma or GED, making educational opportunities more important than ever. Through programs like GEDWorks, Dash In is helping team members prepare for the future while continuing to grow within the company.
Now that Davonte has earned his GED, he is looking forward to continuing to grow with Dash In, taking on additional responsibilities and continuing to build his leadership skills.
